28 January 2023. A video shows a group of people surrounded by whitish smoke, tear gas; a flash of light erupts and one of them falls. During protests in Peru, video surveillance cameras capture the killing of protesters by police and military. How to watch these images? A woman observing them from a distance decompose them, until she disarticulates their artifice.

Researcher and filmmaker. Her work focuses on the study of political violence in Peru and visual regimes. Through film, she has addressed the affective archive and political discourses that seek to construct alternative narratives. She’s currently studying for a master’s degree in Film Studies and Visual Cultures at the ESCAC and the University of Barcelona. As a researcher, she has conducted studies focused on films produced in the aftermath of the internal armed conflict in Peru, with particular attention to discourses of memory and gender. These works have been presented at the Latin American Women’s Filmmaking Conference (London) and at the International Colloquium on State Violence in Peru (Ayacucho). As a filmmaker, she participated in the Process of Error LAB in Valparaíso. In 2020, together with the collective “El silencio”, she made the film Dust no Longer Clouds our Eyes, which has been shown at various national and international festivals, such as Mar del Plata, Jeounju, Documenta Madrid, L'Alternativa and Punto de Vista, among others. She has been a resident at the Centro de Residencias Artísticas de Matadero Madrid with the research project Cartografías de la violencia.
