Lección de botánica

Spain / 90'

Plot

A botanical biologist and her filmmaker daughter team up to find new ways of seeing plants. As the biologist approaches retirement, her daughter suggests they revisit her botanical archives together. This process opens a reflective journey through their intertwined life paths, focusing on science and women, the balance of professional and family life, the bonds of complicity, and the nuances of mother-daughter rivalry. Using both scientific and cinematic tools, they create images that embrace new botanical perspectives on plant community and cooperation, and even the sensitivity of plants. One conviction drives them: viewing the world with empathy can foster fairer relationships between humans and non-humans. And a secret dream lingers: to achieve photosynthesis.
