Plot

Can oral history restore a forgotten part of our past? Can it break the silence perpetuated over generations? In 1969, seventeen-year-old Mariona was arrested and imprisoned in a reformatory ruled by the Women's Welfare Agency, which was dedicated to "regenerating fallen women" during Franco’s dictatorship. In 2023, Mariona and her daughter look back to piece together her story.

Sofia Esteve

Scriptwriter and director. She has been working with Sofia Esteve as an artistic partner since 2019. Together they have co-directed the short films Perpetua felicidad (2022), which was a candidate for the Goya Awards, and Els buits (2024), co-directed together with Marina Freixa, which recently won the Biznaga Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the Malaga 2024 Festival and the Audience Award at the D'A Festival. They are currently pre-producing the short fiction film Los andares and developing a feature film with the same title, selected for the GAC grants, as well as the feature film La forma animal, selected for the Catalan Film Academy's Screenplay Residency. Previously, Sofia co-directed with Marina Freixa the new TV format Follo ergo sum (2016-2018) for betevé. She currently works in the diversity department of Dones Visuals. Sofia has also worked in the casting area of films such as Los tortuga (2024), by Belén Funes, and is co-creator of the project @la_calumnia, about LGTBIQ+ genealogies in cinema.
Isa Luengo

Isa Luengo

Scriptwriter and director. She has been working with Sofia Esteve as an artistic partner since 2019. Previously, Isa co-directed the short film La ciutat interior (2017) with Jorge Moneo and Andrea Ballesteros, which premiered at IDFA. In 2022 she was awarded the Netflix-ESCAC Inclusive Creativity Fund Grant to study the Master's Degree in Screenwriting at ESCAC, where she later joined as a teacher. Isa has also worked in the casting area of productions such as Los tortuga (2024), by Belén Funes, or the series Cites Barcelona (2024) and is co-creator of the project @la_calumnia, about LGTBIQ+ genealogies in film.
Marina Freixa Roca

Marina Freixa Roca

Marina Freixa Roca majored in Audiovisual Communication at UPF. She is a documentary editor and filmmaker. From 2015 to 2018, she was a member of the METROMUSTER cooperative, where she participated in the creation of documentary films such as Tarajal: desmontando la impunidad en la frontera del Sur (2016) and Idrissa: Crónica de una muerte cualquiera (2020). In 2017 she co-directed the documentary TV series Follo ergo sum (betevé). Afterward, she received a Master’s degree in Film Editing at UPF. Marina’s work has always been linked to the social and feminist movements in Barcelona, with a special interest in queer genealogies, found footage, archive, and new formats of representation.
